I had an absolutely amazing experience with Surf Clube Portimão and couldn’t have wished for a better surf lesson! My instructor was fantastic – incredibly kind, patient and encouraging. He explained everything really well, helped me whenever I needed it, and made me feel comfortable and confident in the water from the very beginning. Thanks to his great guidance, I managed to catch many waves and had an absolutely unforgettable time. I had SO much fun! 🌊🏄♀️ A special thank you also goes to his colleague, who took amazing photos and videos during the lesson. Our instructor Alexandre and the communication were amazing! My girlfriend and I had planned a group lesson, but in the end it was just the two of us. So Alex gave us a private lesson, but we still paid the same price. Great surf club, we couldn’t have asked for a better first surfing experience!
Unfortunately, we had to cancel our surf lesson due to sickness. Portimão was incredibly flexible with rescheduling and, ultimately, processing our refund! I would highly recommend them for their kindness, excellent customer service, and professional watersports skills.
Me and my girlfriend had a great time during surf session. Our surf teacher was a very kind and good looking man. On our next Holiday we will go there again!

My younger daughter and I took surfing lessons at this surf school, and we have nothing but the warmest and happiest memories! 🌊 It was such a great experience: fantastic, attentive and professional instructors, and lessons that were always interesting and engaging for both adults and children. We always felt comfortable, had fun, and looked forward to coming back. I would also like to highlight the excellent communication with the management and the team - everything was organised professionally and with great attention to the clients. Thanks to this surf school, we discovered surfing for the first time, and it became a truly wonderful experience for both of us. You can really tell that these are professionals who love what they do. I highly recommend this surf school to anyone who wants to try surfing or improve their skills! 🏄♀️🌊
We had a great experience with Jose as our SUP instructor from a beach between Alvor and Portimao. He was very experienced, friendly and spoke good English. The only criticism is that there was no 'base' at the beach so you have to change there on the beach or in the car park. We were able to leave valuables in Jose's van but the surf club itself doesn't provide dry bags or mobile phone water proof cases - so bring your own!

I had an excellent time with the Portimao Surf Clube. The instructor was very friendly and did his best to help me. The transport to the beach was very well organised, with lunch provided.I met lots of friendly people who were part of the group. This made it a truly memorable experience. I hope one day to return. I would recommend this surf club to any one

Club History
Founded in 2014 with 56 founding members, Portimão Surf Clube was created through the vision of multi-champion surfer Francisco Canelas. His goal was to promote surfing, skating, bodyboarding, and stand-up paddle (SUP) in the Algarve, not only as sports but also as cultural and social activities.
In just the first five years, the club grew quickly, welcoming more than 500 members and training over 1,000 students of all ages and levels. Alongside sports training, it has also organized events, workshops, and competitions, helping to build a strong community united by the ocean, urban sports, and healthy lifestyles.
