The Atlantic coast north of Sagres is a different ocean altogether — bigger, colder, emptier, and genuinely wild. We watch the forecast and pick the break that's working on the day: Arrifana when it's clean, Praia do Amado when there's size, Vale Figueiras when the wind swings. You get a full day of surf with coaches who know these beaches, and the drive back down through the Costa Vicentina is no hardship either.
